Why this cycle feels deeper than usual, the dates to know, and how to move through it with clarity
On 24 October, Mercury stations retrograde, and if you’ve already felt something stirring over the past few weeks, you’re not imagining it. Mercury entered its pre-retrograde shadow on 4 October, and the themes of this cycle have been quietly rising to the surface ever since.
Mercury retrograde has a reputation for chaos: missed emails, crossed wires, delayed trains, the phone that dies at exactly the wrong moment. Those things can happen, but I’ve always seen Mercury retrograde differently. It isn’t here to throw your life off course. It’s a sacred slowdown, an invitation to pause, review and notice where life has drifted out of sync and this particular retrograde has a few features that make it stand out.
A retrograde with nowhere to hide
Most Mercury retrogrades move between two signs. They begin in one and drift back into the one before it, so the energy shifts halfway through. This cycle stays in Scorpio from the very first day of its shadow to the very last.
There is no escape into a lighter, breezier sign. Scorpio is the sign of depth, truth, intimacy, power and transformation. It isn’t interested in small talk or keeping the peace for the sake of it. With Mercury, the planet of thoughts and words, moving backwards through this territory, expect hidden information to surface. Conversations you’ve been avoiding may return. You might also see the stories you’ve been telling yourself in a very different light.
Scorpio can also fixate. If you notice your mind looping on the same worry or replaying the same conversation, that’s part of the medicine. It’s showing you where something still needs your attention.
Venus is retrograde too
Adding to the intensity, Venus has been retrograde since 3 October and moves back from Scorpio into Libra on 25 October. Venus rules love, relationships, money and self-worth, so all of these are under review alongside our words and thoughts.
Mercury stations direct on the 13 November and Venus on the 14. Many people will feel a real sense of release when that happens.

The Cazimi: your breakthrough moment
If there’s one date to circle in your diary, it’s 4 November. This is the Mercury Cazimi, when Mercury sits in the heart of the Sun. Traditionally, this is a moment of purification and illumination: Mercury’s message is renewed and made clear.
Think of it as the eye of the retrograde storm. Around this date, you might have a sudden realisation, an insight that makes everything click, or a conversation where the truth finally comes out. Pay attention to dreams, messages and intuitive nudges. Ideas that arrive around the Cazimi often guide your next steps once the retrograde is over.
Remember, Mercury retrograde isn’t about stopping life. It’s about slowing down enough to see clearly.

What Mercury retrograde in Scorpio means for your sign
Read for your Sun sign and your Rising sign if you know it.
Aries:
The retrograde lands in your eighth house of shared money, intimacy and trust. Joint finances and old trust issues are up for review, and the Cazimi may show you where it’s finally safe to let someone closer.
Taurus
Your seventh house of partnerships is in the spotlight. Agreements made in a hurry may need renegotiating. With your ruler, Venus, retrograde too, relationships become your mirror.
Gemini
