Whether you’re just starting with astrology or you’ve been captivated by the sky for years, May 2026 is a month you’ll want to keep a close eye on.May 2026 begins under the light of the intense Scorpio Full Moon, which occurs today, on May 1st at 11 degrees, pulling something out of the dark.

This is probably one of the most psychologically potent lunations of the year. Scorpio rules what is hidden, such as the subconscious, the shadow, and the things we have carefully avoided looking at. A full moon in this sign does not ask whether you are ready to look – it turns the light on anyway.

Think about what has been simmering beneath the surface in your closest relationships, your finances, or your own inner world. Scorpio is the sign associated with shared resources, intimacy, power dynamics, and psychological depth. Whatever has been living in those territories is likely to surface around this time.

This full moon also squares Pluto in Aquarius, and because Pluto is barely moving (it stations retrograde just five days later), its influence is concentrated and heavy. The square creates friction between the deeply personal revelation of the full moon and the systemic, collective pressure of Pluto in Aquarius. What surfaces at this full moon is not random. It is connected to a larger transformation that has been building in the pipes of your life for months. Scorpio is a fixed sign – this isn’t a time to rush.

Give yourself space to feel what comes up without immediately trying to resolve it. Remember, the full moon illuminates, and the action usually comes later.

Just hours after the Scorpio Full Moon, Mercury meets Chiron in the final degrees of 27° Aries. Mercury is the planet connected to how we communicate, how we think, and how we process information. Chiron, also called the Wounded Healer, is an asteroid associated with the area of our lives where we have experienced our deepest wounds, and where the deepest healing is possible. When these two meet, words carry unusual power. A conversation on this day — or something you write, read, or hear — has the potential to cut and to heal at the same time. You may find yourself saying something you have been holding back for a long time, or you may receive something that lands more deeply than expected. This is not a day for careless communication. It is a day for honest communication, the kind that requires courage.

Following Mercury’s swift and direct transit through Aries on May 3, it moves into Taurus, bringing a much-needed slowdown. Mercury in Taurus thinks before it speaks. This is an excellent transit for making practical decisions, for financial planning and for any communications that require careful, measured thought. The ideas that land now are the ones that have been properly considered. For the next two weeks, resist the urge to rush your thinking and let ideas settle before you commit to them.

Pluto’s retrograde 5° period begins on May 6th and will last for several months until October 16th (3°). This is not a single-day event — it is the beginning of a longer internal process. Pluto in Aquarius has been working on the collective architecture of our lives, such as systems, networks, technology, and the structures that govern how society functions. While Pluto turns direct, this transformation pushes forward, and when Pluto turns retrograde, the movement turns inward.

On a personal level, the area of your birth chart where Pluto will be retrograde indicates where in your life you might be resisting transformation. Next week, I will release a bonus article about this retrograde, so stay tuned!Pluto is also the planet squaring the Scorpio Full Moon at the start of the month, which means its stationing energy is already fully activated on May 1st. The retrograde on May 6th simply makes that energy official.

The Sun and Mercury Cazimi conjunction in Taurus 23°48’ happening on May 14 is one of the most auspicious moments of the month, and it is worth marking in your calendar. When Mercury aligns exactly with the heart of the Sun, this is when Mercury is at its most elevated, its most clear, its most potent. Ideas that come through on this day carry unusual clarity and purpose. At nearly 24 degrees of the earth sign Taurus, this Cazimi is grounded and value-oriented. Such mental clarity doesn’t come around every week, so use it wisely! The second Chiron activation this month occurs on May 16th, with Mars at 28° Aries. While the Mercury and Chiron conjunction on May 1st focused on words that wound and heal, the Mars conjunct Chiron emphasizes actions that wound and heal. Mars is the planet of courage, drive, and forward movement. At the very end of Aries (the sign of Mars’ rulership), this conjunction carries enormous energy of acting in spite of an old wound. There may be anger here in the air — that is Mars, but the invitation is to let that anger become fuel for something that heals rather than something that harms.

The New Moon in Taurus 25° happening on May 16th, arrives straight after the Mars–Chiron conjunction in Aries 28°. New Moons are beginnings. Taurus is the most fertile ground in the zodiac — slow, patient, deeply connected to the physical world, to pleasure, to what is real and tangible and worth building. This is one of the best New Moons of the year for setting intentions around abundance, stability, the body, home, and anything you want to build that lasts.

Between May 17th and 21st, this is the gear shift of the month. In just five days, four planets move into new signs, making the collective energy change dramatically, so pay attention to how you feel between May 17th and 21st, as you will likely notice a shift.

Mercury moves into Gemini on May 17 (the sign it rules), and immediately the pace of thought accelerates. Where Mercury in Taurus was slow, deliberate, and careful, Mercury in Gemini is quick, curious, and multi-directional. This is when our ideas tend to multiply and the mind wants to explore everything at once. This is excellent energy for writing, brainstorming, research, networking, and any project that requires mental agility.

The very first thing Mercury does upon entering Gemini is to conjunct Uranus 1° on May 18th. This is one of the most electrically charged transits of the month. Uranus is the planet of disruption, awakening and radical departure from the expected. When Mercury and Uranus come together, wonderful surprises happen! Ideas seem to pop up out of nowhere, conversations take unexpected turns, and news can truly catch you off guard. Plus, a fresh perspective can completely change how you see things. If something arrives on May 18th — a piece of information, a conversation, an idea — take it seriously even if it feels disruptive. Especially if it feels disruptive.Mars leaves Aries on May 18 and enters Taurus, taking on a slower, steadier pace. Instead of rushing, Mars in Taurus encourages us to build and nurture. It’s patient, persistent, and once it sets a course, it’s tough to stop. This energy is all about playing the long game: putting in consistent effort over time toward what truly matters to us. As you look ahead, consider focusing your energy on projects that need endurance and steady progress rather than quick results.

Venus moves into Cancer on May 19th, turning our attention toward home and family matters. Venus in Cancer feels warm, caring, and emotionally rich. During this time, we naturally focus on the people and places that give us a sense of safety and comfort. It’s a wonderful period to create relationships that feel like a true sanctuary. When Venus is in Cancer, we’re touched by acts of kindness, cherished memories, and the beautiful feeling of being genuinely understood.Happy Solar Season, Gemini!

The Sun moves into the sign of the twins on May 21st, and we enter one of the most socially and intellectually alive times of the year. Gemini season brings curiosity, conversation, movement, and the beautiful feeling that there is more to explore than you have time for. Four days after the Mercury–Uranus conjunction, the Sun makes the same contact with Uranus at 1°. Where Mercury–Uranus brought surprising information and sudden ideas, the Sun–Uranus conjunction, especially at the very beginning of Gemini, a sign associated with new beginnings in thought, can wake something up. This could be a realisation, an opportunity, or sudden clarity about something you have been circling for months. It could also feel unsettling if the awakening requires you to let go of something comfortable.

May 2026 concludes just as it began — with a full moon. Having two full moons in one month feels like the entire period is one continuous journey of light and letting go. We started in Scorpio, in the depths and the unseen, and we finish with a Sagittarius 9° Full Moon on May 31st. Let this full moon serve as your moment to find harmony. There’s no need to have all the answers; simply stay open to how the month’s experiences guide you toward a greater understanding.
